What Changed in 2026
Where Starlink Stops, Cellular Keeps Going
Starlink's 2026 Roam updates added speed caps, location limits, and motion restrictions that weren't there before. Cellular picks up exactly where those rules end — and where there's a cell signal, you stay online. It's not a replacement for Starlink. It's the layer that keeps you connected when Starlink can't.
What Starlink Roam now restricts (2026)
- Roam plans capped at 100 mph for in-motion use (down from 450 mph in 2025).
- Standby Mode no longer supports in-motion use as of March 2026 — stationary only.
- Reliable in-motion service now requires the Mobile Priority plan ($250/mo) on the Flat High Performance dish (~$2,500 hardware).
- Roam coverage is limited to land and coastal waters — and tied to the registered service address.
